Dr. Viktoria, is by far, the most professional physical therapist with an immense knowledge & expertise in Schroth therapy. I’m a 52yr. old female, with thoracolumbar scoliosis since childhood. I have been under Dr. Viktoria’s care for the past 10 months. Dr. Viktoria did an extensive evaluation of me, including reviewing imaging studies I provided during my first appointment. The next sessions thereafter, consisted of teaching & explaining of Schroth exercises using detailed breathing techniques & elongation exercises on the wall ladder. At the start of every session, Dr Viktoria reviewed from the past week and then taught new exercises. She devised a detailed home exercise program for me and would modify it on a weekly basis . She incorporated Pilates and strength-training which helped improve my core strength &endurance so I can function in carrying out tasks in my everyday life.Dr. Viktoria has helped me improve my posture by decreasing the degree of my spinal rotation from 11 degrees to 4 degrees. I no longer feel discomfort in my ribs & feel so much stronger in my core! I have never had such positive results before this, so I continue my therapy with Dr. Viktoria. Not only has helped me physically, but emotionally as well. Her kind and caring words of motivation has helped me through this process.I am grateful I have found such a devoted & patient physical therapist! So, if you are looking for a scoliosis therapist for a child or an adult ..….look no further, Dr. Viktoria is definitely the right therapist for you!
From before I can remember I was always the kid with no balance, wobbly and constantly bumping into things. I never had much control over my body. Part of the reason was because I was born with one leg longer than the other. This problem eventually led to scoliosis and kyphosis in my back. When I was in seventh grade the doctors placed me in a back brace. At first I was devastated, embarrassed and never felt weaker. It was suggested while I was in the brace to begin physical therapy to help improve my scoliosis. A close friend of my mother had suggested that I should see Viktoria. With time and patience Viktoria changed my life! I was seeing her individually first and over time, as I was getting better, I started to work in a group. The PT groups were very fun to attend.
It’s been five years since I started therapy with Viktoria and I’m proud to say in those four years Viktoria helped me to decrease my scoliosis curve, regain proper balance and improve my confidence. She was like a mother to me throughout the whole process and I couldn’t be more grateful to have someone like Viktoria in my life. She swept in like an angel and taught me to embrace the condition I was in and pushed me to always strengthen myself and endure through the hard times!
I have had Viktoria as my physical therapist for scoliosis since 2014. Throughout my journey with scoliosis, Vika has been there as a steady source of support for myself and my family. Without Vika, my health would have worsened and seeing her consistently kept me aware of my physical state and helped me learn how to take care of myself. Vika is a very caring person with a deep passion for helping people with scoliosis. Her support, help, and reassurance is much appreciated and we recommend Vika to anyone of any age who is struggling with scoliosis.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Scoliosis by an orthopedic surgeon who I was referred to by my pediatrician after he noticed a strange curve with my spine. We were told there were three options: brace, do nothing, or a specialized therapy called the Schroth Method.
As I was young, 10 years old, my parents decided a brace wasn’t the right decision and instead decided to try Schroth Therapy. After some searching online, Viktoria popped up, she was near our location and was certified. At that time, I was one of her first clients, I remember her flying to Barcelona to learn new techniques and methods even after being certified because helping people was a passion of hers. I was 10 and my curve was 22 degrees. I can proudly say that my curve has not increased while I was doing treatment with Viktoria. After 6 months of PT we decided to take a break as the curve seemed stable. Also, cooperating with home program was difficult for me as I was very young .
At the age of 15 I have experienced fast and significant progression of scoliosis to about 40 degrees. We decided to resume Schroth therapy and I took it seriously at that time. I started PT with Viktoria and in two months the world shot down due to COVID 19 . We had to go on line, which was not easy as I had to learn all the exercises through visual and verbal instructions . Viktoria worked very hard pushing me not to give up. She has also suggested that I should get a brace to wear at night to help me improve my curve flexibility.
After 5 months of Schroth therapy (with 3months being delivered virtually) I took X-rays and found out that my curve reduced to 25 degrees. We were so happy!!
We have continued with virtual Schroth sessions through the summer and transitioned back to in -person sessions next fall. During PT sessions Viktoria continued to encourage me to work on improving strength and posture. She has also taught me that I can help myself to ease the pain that comes along with scoliosis, which included pain from the curve, the muscle, and the lower back. Along the way Viktoria encouraged and aided my treatment and self-treatment, always explaining and teaching the reasoning and anatomy behind each breath as Schroth method is focuses on breathing in particular way that helps to put the body back into place.
Viktoria is not just an expert but a coach. She guided me through the process and helped me to reduce my curve and maintain reduction after I stopped bracing. After nearly 3 years of treatment, being 18, we went to the hospital for a yearly checkup and were told that the curve reduction retained, and annual monitoring was no longer needed.
I attribute my success to Viktoria’s efforts as she led me along this path to recovery with patience and thoughtfulness. I am particularly grateful for the skills and self-discipline that she taught me. The best thing you can do for your condition is learn how to treat yourself, it will incredibly improve your quality of life and there is no one more well suited to help than Viktoria.
