Early Career

My journey in health care began over 30 years ago. I graduated from New York University in 1992 with a degree in physical therapy, and then in 2009 graduated from Rocky Mountain University as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

As a former piano teacher I was always fascinated with the process of nurturing an individual’s growth in cognitive, emotional and physical aspects. That led me to a pediatric specialty in physical therapy. I worked in the schools, early intervention and pediatric home care setting treating children with developmental disabilities, orthopedic and neurological impairments. I enjoyed the process of maintaining long term commitment to the patients and families. I have always searched for the most innovative, effective methods of treatment. My professional enrichment in pediatrics culminated with 8 -weeks Certification in Neuro – Developmental Treatment, Advanced Certification Training in Cuevas Medek Exercises and Certification in Yoga For Special Child.

My Personal Scoliosis Story

The next chapter of my professional life began in 2010 when my two younger children were diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

As a professional, and as a mother, I was frustrated with the lack of resources available to us. Both children were competitive ballroom dancers, and it was our priority to maintain their position in the dance sport. I have eagerly searched for interventions to facilitate recovery and we tried different treatment methods and bracing.. Persistence, patience and discipline were our best medicines. We were able to keep the curves under control while continuing dancesport in full force..

Luckily, I was able to educate myself in physical therapy methods for scoliosis which only started to gain popularity in the USA at those times . Better understanding of scoliosis enabled me to guide my children’s treatment with more confidence. In 2014 our personal scoliosis journey was moving towards competition, while my professional scoliosis journey has only begun.

Brooklyn Scoliosis Therapy

In December 2014 I opened a private practice dedicated solely to scoliosis and kyphosis care.

The unique combination of professional and personal experience has undoubtedly enriched my effectiveness as a therapist. I continued to dedicate my time and efforts to scoliosis education. I have earned advanced certifications in Schroth method through three different educational establishments – ISST, BSPTS and SSOL. I completed the ISICO Scoliosis Master Course (Italian school for conservative scoliosis treatment ) becoming the first physical therapist in the USA to complete the 10 months in-depth training. I earned advanced certification in SEAS physical therapy method for scoliosis/ kyphosis in 2018 . I started learning the Lyon method for treatment of scoliosis in 2021 and in 2024 become the first physical therapist in the USA to complete both – theoretical and practical Lyon method certifications . In the efforts to provide the best strengthening opportunities for my patients, I educated myself in scoliosis specific Pilates through Polestar and Scolio – Pilates. Since a young age I have looked for personal inspiration through yoga practice. In 2022 I became a certified yoga teacher. Looking for a way to integrate yoga principles into scoliosis/ kyphosis treatment I have completed yoga for scoliosis training .

My professional experience allows holistic synthesis of multiple therapeutic modalities including traditional physical therapy, scoliosis specific methods and mind/body integrative care creating a unique, effective treatment approach. My dedicated involvement in scoliosis education and professional organizations reflects on ongoing commitment to stay at the forefront of the field and provide the best possible care to the patients. I have been rewarded with many successful stories of patients who were able to reach their goals through improving posture, decreasing curves, eliminating pain and improving quality of life.
